1. Preparation

Before starting the installation, ensure that:

  • Your device meets the minimum hardware requirements.
  • You back up any important data if you’re installing on an existing system.

CPU

Processor performance depends not only on the clock frequency of the processor, but also on the number of processor cores and the size of the processor cache. The following are the processor requirements.

Minimum:

  • 4 GHz 64-bit processor
  • Compatible with x64 instruction set
  • Support for NX and DEP
  • Support for CMPXCHG16b, LAHF/SAHF, and PrefetchW instructions
  • Support for Second Level Address Translation (EPT or NPT)

RAM

Minimum:

  • 512 MB for Server Core
  • 2 GB for Server with Desktop Experience
  • ECC (Error Correcting Code) type or similar technology for physical host deployments

Storage

Minimum:

  • 32 GB of space

Network


Minimum:

  • An Ethernet adapter that can achieve a throughput of at least 1 gigabit per second
  • Compliant with the PCI Express architecture specification

2. Download & Installation

1. Download the Installation Package

  • Click Download Link to get the official installation package. The package is available in Standard, Datacenterand Standard CALs versions.
  • If you need Remote Desktop Mode, you can switch to it by following the tutorial that follows after downloading and installing.

2. Run the Installer

  • Open the downloaded package. It will automatically extract and launch the installation wizard.

3. Follow the On-Screen Instructions

  • Select the Windows Server edition you need.

4. Wait for Installation to Complete

  • The system will install Windows Server automatically.
  • After installation, your server will restart automatically.

3. Initial Setup

After installation, configure the following:

  1. Create an Administrator Account
  2. Set Up Network & IP Address (if needed)
  3. Activate Windows Server
  • Enter your product key when prompted, or choose to activate later.

4. Enabling & Configuring Remote Desktop

If you need remote access to your server, follow these steps to enable Remote Desktop Services (RDS):

  1. Enable Remote Desktopon Windows Server
  • Open ServerManager from the Start menu.
  • Click “LocalServer” in the left panel.
  • Locate “RemoteDesktop” and click “Disabled” to edit settings.
  • Select “Allowremote connections to this computer” and confirm.
    1. Install RDS for Multi-User Access

If you need multiple users to connect remotely, install Remote Desktop Services:

  • Open Server Managerand click “Add Roles and Features“.
  • Select “Role-based or feature-based installation” and choose your server.
  • In the Roles Selection, check “Remote Desktop Services“.
  • Install the following roles based on your needs:
  • Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH)– Allows multiple users to connect.
  • Remote Desktop Connection Broker– Manages sessions for load balancing.
  • Remote Desktop Web Access– Enables remote access via a web portal.
    • Complete the installation and restart your server.
      1. Configure Remote Desktop Security Settings

To secure your Remote Desktop connection, configure these settings:

  • Enable Network Level Authentication (NLA)
  • Open System Properties> Remote Settings and check “Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with NLA“.
    • Limit User Access
  • Open Computer Management >Local Users and Groups and assign access permissions.
    • Set Up a Firewall Rule for Remote Desktop
  • Open Windows Defender Firewall, go to Inbound Rules, and ensure “Remote Desktop – User Mode” is enabled.
    • Change the Default RDP Port (Optional, for Extra Security)
  • Modify the registry setting to change RDP from port 3389to a custom port.
    1. Connect to Your Windows Server Remotely

Once Remote Desktop is enabled, you can connect to your server from another device:

  • Open Remote Desktop Connection on Windows.
  • Enter your Server IP Address and click Connect.
  • Log in with your Administrator credentials.
